Defunct Cemetery: This is the site of the former estate of German shipping magnate, and Confederate States Army officer, Gustav Lurman. In the 1950's the land was donated to the Baltimore County Public Schools for the construction of the new Catonsville Senior High School. Prior to demolition of the estate, the headstones were removed, but the graves were deemed too fragile to remove.The Lurmans are buried in Greemount Cemetery in Baltimore, but their house servants are buried under the parking lot of current Catonsville Senior High School.
